BEES' NEEDSWEEK

14th - 20th July 2025

At Flying Flowers, we’re proud to support Bees’ Needs Week. It's a national celebration of the vital role that bees and other pollinators play in our environment and everyday lives.
Pollinators are essential for healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and a sustainable food supply. This week is all about raising awareness of what bees need to survive and thrive, and how we can all make a difference.

What We’re Doing To Support Pollinators

Wondering what the buzz is about bees? Bees are important, especially for helping to keep us fed, but sadly they’re under threat. And without bees, there would be no flowers – and a world without flowers is a world without bees. Take a look at what we've been doing to support the bees!

SUPPORTING THE LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW

We proudly supported the LAS Schools Challenge at the Lincolnshire Show this year. It's a fantastic event showcasing local food, farming, and education. We especially loved visiting the children’s bee stands, where young people shared what they’ve been learning about pollinators and how they’re helping in their own gardens and schools. Their creativity, passion, and knowledge were truly inspiring. It’s clear the future of our pollinators is in good hands.

LEARNING RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS

Are you a teacher, a Forest School leader or work in education? We have created FREE learning resources for primary schools, including a 'Bee A Superhero' activity pack and supporting teacher notes.

"We have focused on planting flowers for pollinators. We are spotting so many bees enjoying our garden, which was our number one aim. We also have asked our groundsmen to leave the grass in our orchard to grow long and we have left some soil for the swallows. We have a log pile and bird boxes too. The children truly own the space - watering, weeding, monitoring with such independence. Our garden is a special place that so many children enjoy being in at lunchtime"

BEE A SUPERHEROACTIVITY PACK

If you are a parent, grandparent or someone who cares for a child, we have created a smaller version of the fun activity pack which you can use at home. It's time to find their capes, become a superhero and help save the bees!

SUPPORTING LOCAL BEEKEEPERS

We were lucky enough to welcome a local beekeeper, Donya, into our office for an interactive session on all things bees. From learning how hives work to understanding the threats bees face, the session gave our team a new appreciation for these incredible creatures. We even got to take a closer look at beekeeping equipment, and taste some delicious local honey! It was a fantastic opportunity to bring our sustainability values to life in the workplace.

OUR TOP 5 TIPS TO SAVE THE BEES

  1. Choose Bee Friendly plants for your garden
  2. Mow your lawn less frequently or leave a patch to rewild
  3. Create your own 'bee bar' drinks station
  4. Build a bee house
  5. Report sightings of Asian Hornets

SAVING THEBEES

We’re committed to continuing our work to support bees and other pollinators, not just during Bees’ Needs Week, but all year round. By working together as businesses, schools, and communities, we can make a real difference.
